Give LOVE flyerGuess what time it is?  Time go GiveLOVE!  This is the time of year when everyone starts feeling the pull on those heartstrings.  We want to be with the people we love, we want to correspond with them in ways that we don’t during the year. For me, it is the time when I truly think about telling everyone how much I love them. Not everyone has someone to call and tell them they love them. For that reason, we are taking GiveLOVE a step farther this year. We aren’t just going to give from our business but we are going to give from our hearts and from our time. We are going to do things like deliver meals to those in need and volunteer our time. We are also going to show love by paying for someone’s food in the fast food line or leaving $5 and a note taped to a box of diapers at Target.

THIS IS WHERE WE CHALLENGE YOU. YES, YOU.  We want you to help us! Tuesday, December 2nd is #givingtuesday (yep, it is a day and a hashtag) and we plan to go around town like love giving elves doing good deeds that can show  love.  We aren’t going to stop there, we are going to commit to doing loving things for those around us until the end of the year. We want you to do that too.  This could look different for everyone, you can volunteer, you can take food to a friend or visit the senior center. You could make it a point to leave notes for your significant other to show them how much you care, you could do the dishes when it isn’t your turn, you could call your mom.  We are planing to update you on how we are giving love and give ideas thorough the holiday season.

Guess what? We have a hashtag too!  Post your good deeds on social media with #giveLOVE connected to them so we can all see how much love you have in your heart.  We can’t wait to see it!

Modern Triangle Baby Shower

Today I am sharing a party that was very near and dear to our hearts, baby Ruby’s baby shower.  (Um, I guess Jessie was there too.)  It is a good day to share it because baby Ruby came into this world to join us over the weekend!  I, along with another friend Laine, threw the shower for Jessie and we had so much fun working on all the decor and food!  This is Jessie’s first baby so we jumped on the chance to have fun. Her room has a woodland flare and is decorated with mint, peach and gold.  (Um, how can you not love that color scheme?)  We went with a more clean, modern approach and were thrilled with the final outcome.   The best part of the day was gathering with those we love to celebrate a new life!

2013 Year in Review

As 2013 draws to a close, we are so grateful for all of the wonderful clients we’ve had the pleasure of working with this year. It has been an amazing ride. This year we doubled our events from the year before and have so enjoyed watching our little business really start to blossom.

Each bride and groom that we worked with this year had such distinct and unique personalities and yet two things remained the same: a fierce love for one another and for what marriage stands for. We have been blessed with couples that not have only have the desire to create a beautiful wedding atmosphere filled with amazing details, but also recognize what’s really important about their day: building a strong marriage and sharing that foundation with family and friends.

So without further ado, here are some of our favorite moments from 2013. Unfortunately, not every event is represented below as we are still awaiting photos from a few, but the majority are here. Thank you also to the amazing photographers we had the pleasure of working with over the past year.

And, we don’t just do weddings. We also love when we get to put our creativity to work on other events, like Shelby Grace’s adorable first birthday party.

We were also blessed by being featured on some wonderful blogs and local publications this year! In February, Emily and Josh’s Scarritt Bennett/backyard shindig was featured on Borrowed and Bleu:

Then the next day, Megan and Art’s organic foodie wedding was featured on Love and Lavender.

February also brought an exciting feature in the form of a styled shoot that we did for Murfreesboro Magazine, found both inside the publication as well as on the cover.

In May, Brittni and Andrew’s Cinco de Mayo wedding was featured on Style Me Pretty’s Little Blag Book Blog.

In July, Morgan and Brett’s lovely and local Cheekwood/Loveless Barn wedding was focused on the Wedding Wire blog.

And then they were featured again in the Winter/Spring edition of Nashville Lifestyles Weddings.

And in June, we participated in the first Nashville Not Wedding, which was an absolute blast! Some of our work was featured in the write up done by the Ruffled blog.

And finally, this month Wedding Chicks featured us on their Vendor Happy Hour.

Since this blog post is getting as long as the past year was, it’s time to wrap up the year end wrap up. Again, we’d like to thank both our fabulous clients and the awesome hard working vendors that help make all of these events possible. Without all of you, Modern Vintage would not be where it is today.

As we welcome the new year, we are taking some big steps and giant leaps of faith to continue to grow our little business. We love what we do and are so excited to see what 2014 has in store for us!

Organic Winter Inspiration

Winter.  Winter is the time when I want to curl up next to a fire with a cup of hot chocolate, my fuzzy blanket and my favorite book.  Nights are not always that silent but winter has a calming, peaceful feel.  I am beginning to really love winter weddings also.  They have a different charm than their summer counterparts and you can throw in festive elements.  We put together an inspiration board from some of our favorite wintry images.

Give Love!

Now that Halloween has passed we can start pulling out the Christmas decorations right?  Well, we aren’t jumping that far ahead but we do have a fun holiday special to announce.  It is time for our yearly “Give Love” campaign.   The holiday season is a time for family and love and for giving to those who may not have an abundance.  We want to give back to the communities in which we live by donating 15% of our total fee from any wedding (or event) to the charity of your choice.

Feel free to contact us to schedule a free consultation to talk about your wedding or party!  Contact: info@gomodernvintage.com or Becca: becca@gomodernvintage.com, 615-768-9603 or Jessie: jessica@gomodernvintage.com, 615-807-0318.

We can’t wait to talk to you!

The Not Wedding

Sometimes we get really pumped about stuff.  This is one of those “stuffs” we are really pumped about.  We have been selected to be a vendor at The Not Wedding in Nashville.

In case you do not know what that is, it is the mother of all bridal shows.  It is not one of those, walk through a bajillion booth shows. (We have done those and LOVE them too.)  The not wedding is a show that puts you into the wedding.  Yep, that’s right, my big fake awesome wedding.  All the guest get to experience a vow renewal of a real couple and the reception and merriment, including a dance party, that ensues afterward.

The Not Wedding is July 18th at 1 Cannery Row at 7 pm and consists of some really amazing vendors that we can’t wait to collaborate with.  One of the coolest things about the show is that it isn’t just about promoting wedding businesses, it is about promoting strong marriages.  That is something we feel really strongly about around here.  (This marriage business doesn’t end with the sparkler departure and the tux return.)

Information for tickets is here.  We can’t wait to see you there!

modernvintage.com 2.0!

We are absolutely giddy with excitement today. Why? Because we’ve just rolled out our new website design! We just love our blog and wanted to merge the two to create something seamless that really encompasses our style. Julie Farber with Deluxe Designs, the talent behind the blog and the site, has done just that and we are thrilled. She is so easy to work with and when it comes to the look, what I can say? She just gets us.

So hop on over to the new site to peruse and let us know what you think!

Brittni + Andrew on Style Me Pretty

Ya’ll, today I feel like God and the heavens are shining down on us.  We are experiencing one of our wedding planning dreams, one of our favorite couples is on Style Me Pretty!  Eeeekkkkk!  We are so excited that Brittni and Andrew’s wedding is featured on SMP’s Little Black Book Blog today!

Sit back with a margarita and check out their Cinco De Mayo wedding here.  I think we may  just have to celebrate with one too!

Emily & Josh Featured on Borrowed & Bleu

Have we told you guys how much we loved working with Emily and Josh? Sometimes you have such a good time working with a couple you kind of have withdrawals from them after the wedding day is over. These guys were such fun and creative people and it showed in every aspect of their wedding, from the DIY lawn games and flowers, to the gorgeous spread of food prepared by the family (read more about it here). That’s why we are so excited that their day was featured yesterday on Borrowed & Bleu‘s lovely blog. Go check out the post immediately for some more glorious eye candy brought to you by Chris and Adrienne Scott, Photographers.
